hi all and i'm putting this hear cause i noticed there wasn't any thing on this topic and basically have you lost a pet? were you able to find it? well i had a couple of cats and 2 boys fluffy and Whitefang went missing but not at the same time, it was a couple of years apart and 2-3 years ago i had to leave my home due to saftey due to earthquakes that had occured and we tried to get him to our new home but he ended up running away and was never to be found and i do miss him lots.
my sympathies go out to those who's pet have gone but just remember you will have good memories of them and yeah it is painful because you had loved them so much.

Never had any myself, but I have friends whose cats ran away and were never found. It sucks.

I think having a pet runn away or otherwise go missing would be worse than having him pass away. At least when a pet passes, there isn't that sense of wondering what happened to him. Losing a pet to the rainbow bridge isn't easy by any stretch. I still miss Digby every day and it's been over 6 months.

awe sorry to hear that and yeah i have to agree that it is more difficult when it goes missing cause you can't know for sure if it is safe, dead or alive or know if it has been taken in by some one else or not.
yes it does suck.

I can agree with that. When my folks and I lived in Southern California we had several cats that we adopted just go missing. One was apparently pregnant when we adopted her and she stayed just long enough for the babies to be born, weened and found homes. Then she hightailed it.

I know at least one of them did. I met him several times some time later when he grew up into a big kitty.

well i'm not sure if any of you out there do this but I tend to dream of the animals that I have lost, probably sounds strange but I think it is not to odd, grins.

No, I don't think it's odd at all. About a month ago, my favorite orange kitty that I had at my parents house for many years named Sahaira, died. Then shortly after that, some painters left the door open, and our white cat Max ran away. My parents looked for him, but couldn't find him. They were afraide to tell me, because they new how much I loved those cats. Being that I live in Northern cal, there was nothing I could do. I feel like we should of tried harder to find Max, because he doesn't have his front claws, and wouldn't survive long outside. At least with Sahaira, she passed away in peace, but I have know idea if Max found a home, or died out there. Still hurts a bit, but at least I have pictures. Having my own cat at home has helped somewhat.

awe i'm sorry to hear that and I wonder the same about whitefang as he had a few health issues like problems with itching and his teeth though the last thing I heard was that he had found some kittens and were playing with them, we notified the S.P.C.a but we hadn o luck, I tried again a second time and though there were at least 6 or 7 matches to the description I had given but none had been brought in from the area I was living in, I do miss him a lot.
I've managed to get attached to my nephew's cat but though my mum has asked couple of times if I wanted to get a new one but I've not been able to cause of not being ready and i'm not sure when I will be but for now I am happy giving meow meow attention, smiles.

Yeah, it's definitely a sad situation, but I know there's nothing I can do to change what happened. After what happened to Max, I'm very careful with my own cat Cassie. I have a bell on her, so I know where she is at all times. She's strictly an in door kitty, and I make sure she's not by the sliding glass door when I go out, since she can be kind of sneaky. I'm so glad I have her and my guide dog, cuz without them, I'd miss Max and Sahaira a lot more.

Post 13 by LeoGuardian (You mean there is something outside of this room with my computer in it?) on Saturday, 03-Aug-2013 17:13:08

Yes yes and yes, about the dreams and all. Truth be told no matter how rational you are about the situation it still happens. It's been over five years since I had to rehome my birds. I honestly don't miss having birds anymore. don't miss the hour plus a week cleaning the cages and all, but loved them when I did have them. And I still dream about my canary in particular, that he is still alive, I'd neglected to feed and care for him for these over five years, and I go to clean out his cage, get him fresh food and water, and he starts up a rather mournful little song.
It's not weird, it's just our brains trying to make sense of things I guess.

I agree about how the fact we dream of those we have lost or that are no longer in our life's, kind of like our brain is trying to tell us some thing but i'm unsure of what that is.
I'm glad that you were able to bond well with your kitties and that you have a guide dog.
It has been 3 years since i left my kitty and i tell you at the time i felt bad about it but really i had no control over it which i know deep in my heart whitefang understood or knew as they are very intelligent animals, smiles.

Yes, I'm glad I was able to bond with them to. I had them in my life for around 12 years, and will never forget them. My little girl I have now is 8, and I hope to have her for a few more years. My guide dog is a wonderful companion to have, and it's nice to know that I have someone by my side who will not only protect me in my everyday life, but not judge me either.

very true and yeah I had whitefang, his brother, 2 sisters and mother for at least 9 years but some had to be rehomed and the others I kept which were the 2 boys though fluffy ran away a year or 2 before the quakes happened.
I have bonded with my mum's and my nephew's cat which is nice, smiles.

Yes, the bond we share with our animals is sometimes hard to break, but we know when we get them, that we won't have forever. My cat is lying on my bed as I write this, my guide dog is sleeping close by. Whenever something happens in my life, I know they'll always be there if others can't. As for Max and Sahaira, I will never forget them.

Oh I dream about my last cat Max all the time. He was a fluffy orange beast of a cat who was just about as lovey dovey as you could wish for before my x irlfriend got a hold of him. I'm not sure what she did to him but he became very unpredictable towards people other than me, even my mom, and he used to absolutely adore her. But e got tothe point were he'd be all lovey dovey and purring one minute and the very next he'd scratch or bite you, even drawing blood sometimes. So I had to give him up. But I alwayys dream about him, especially since learning that my current kitty's developing cataracts. Granted this wasn't really a surprise because she is an older cat. And while it doesn't seem to be afectingher too much I still have to work hard not to worry myself unnecessarily.

awe your right about the animals not living forever but they are forever in our hearts, thoughts and dreams which is nice, smiles.
I"m sorry to hear about your kitties eyes and i'm sure you'll be able to help her as best as you can.
